They might just visit the dentist once a\nyear for a checkup, or perhaps they do not visit their dentist at all unless\nthey experience some oral discomfort. But such individuals are lessening the\nvalue they get from their policy, <em>and <\/em>they are endangering their oral\nhealth. That\u2019s why we\u2019re writing this blog post. We are here to give you a few\npointers on how you can truly benefit from your dental insurance in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t Neglect Cleanings and Checkups<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most dental insurance plans cover two cleanings and checkups\neach year \u2014 usually for nothing out of pocket if a patient visits an in-network\ndentist. The standard recommendation is for everyone to visit their dentist\nevery six months. Therefore, if you wait until July or later to attend your\nfirst preventive appointment of the year, you won\u2019t have enough time to have\nyour second appointment before this year\u2019s benefits expire. Scheduling an\nappointment soon will make sure you have plenty of time to use <em>all <\/em>of\nyour preventive benefits in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use Your Annual Maximum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a PPO dental insurance plan, you likely have an\nannual maximum. That is the highest amount that your insurer will pay out for approved\nservices within a calendar year. The maximum resets each year. Hence, at the\nbeginning of 2020, you likely have the entirety of your annual maximum left. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you visit your dentist for a checkup, they might notice\na minor oral health issues that requires care. You can get it taken care of\nsoon without worrying that its cost will exceed your annual maximum. On the\nother hand, if you wait to visit the dentist, and an oral health problem becomes\nworse, your annual maximum might not be enough to cover the necessary treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get More Out of Your Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dental insurance can be a little confusing, especially if you\naren\u2019t accustomed to using your policy regularly. You can rely on the team at\nyour dental office for help. They can explain insurance terms to you and educate\nyou about how your policy applies to certain treatments.
